I had the pleasure of visiting Rome Italy a week ago, and as a Montessorian I thought that it would be a tragedy to go to the city where the amazing Montessori Method was developed and not visit a school or a training program. The belief brought me the front door of Opera Nazionale Montessori. I was greeted by a very kind Italian woman who graciously accepted the task of escorting me around the facilities. I don’t speak Italian and she spoke very little English, but our love for the Montessori method transcended any language barrier that stood between us. I was able to visit the the library where many of Maria’s hand written books were on display. To be face to face with the writings of someone whom I respect was humbling.
